Each friend represents a world in us, a world not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born. ~ Anais Nin
The internet is such a weird and creative place where magic(k) opportunities abound for bloggers, creative types and the like. Seriously, it’s one giant portal where almost anything is possible and, if you have the courage to step through it, will enhance all areas of life.
For instance, I had no idea back in 2011 that I’d meet who would prove to be my best friend, the creative writer and kick-ass witch, Joanna DeVoe. I say “prove to be” because it's not always been rosy between us. Sure it started out ok, but there were some big bumps along the way as we tried to sort out issues which had erupted between us.
Being "blogging besties" is a challenge for a number of reasons, but because you are forced to communicate via technology sometimes the meaning of your message gets lost in translation. And when you both have an online presence, friendly competition can be misinterpreted for passive aggressive digs if you are not careful.
I was impressed with Joanna when, after hitting a snag in our relationship, she was willing to get vulnerable with me by airing her concerns without abandoning her needs--but also held the space for me to do the same. Together, we hashed out our differences and (together) we took a giant leap forward.
This was truly something special, like nothing I had experienced with any of my female friendships before. That was just over a year ago, and after talking about it much later, we both agreed that somehow our relationship just seemed bigger than the both of us.
So, it was super exciting this past weekend when we met up for the first time in real life and spent time together in L.A.
