How to Rock Aries energy, even if you aren’t an Aries
Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, so happy Cosmic new year! Aries is all about the EMERGENT energy that takes its first step on any journey. Not so much about the "infant," per se, but the teenager who is starting the process of individuation!
Babies are dependent on others for their survival, but teens are at that first stage of self-awareness where the could, if they really had to, take care of themselves. Teens are often cocky and self assured in a way that is naive and progressive. Invoking your inner teenager is certainly an act of Aries that can help you get along in your new ventures! Of course, self-assured teens THINK they know everything (Aries does rule the head and ego, after all...) but they are too naive to even know that they don't know!
Aries is also the instinctual sexual drive that must be satisfied (without knowing or understanding why it has the desire to begin with!) Aries is that
"horny" desire that MUST be satisfied, regardless of question or understanding!
But Aries has a dark side, too! For instance, if we don't give space to our primal urges, they can fester beneath the "crust" and eventually erupt like a volcano! And so it is wise to make space to evaluate our dark desires, our darkness, our dark impulses -- in order that they don't cause chaos in the end.
Aries is a personal sign (as opposed to the transpersonal signs of Libra - Pisces) and it can be seen as selfish in that it lacks a certain awareness of how others can impact one's reality.
The Aries glyph represents the rams horns, but I see in it, too, the shoots of a new plant. A seedling, with its two leaves that have sprouted. At this stage of growth, it is emerging, but its still unaware of its fullness -- If you have ever planted seeds in February in a tray, and maybe you don’t mark them and get confused by the fact they all look alike at this stage. That is what the glyph looks like to me and that is the perfect metaphor for Aries.
It is the emergence and the quest for self -- "I am here," but the identity will come as it journeys through the rest of the wheel. In Taurus, it will discover it’s values, and in Gemini, it gets to explore its local neighborhood, and in Cancer it will remember its foundations, and in Leo it will get to play and in Libra it meets others to (possibly) procreate in Scorpio where it will then have a philosophical journey in Sag about the meaning of life and what’s it all for where it will be met with public recognition for its efforts in Cap and then share its overflow in Aquarius, teaching others about the journey and then ultimately coming back to Pisces where it will take all it has discovered and dissolve back into the rich hummus that will nurture its rebirth in Aries at the next cycle.
Aries is also associated with The Fool of the Major Arcana in Tarot. As the Holy Fool, Aries confidently (naively) steps forth on a bold new adventure, not knowing what it doesn't know, and happens to learn as it goes along.
Tips for ROCKING Aries Energy:
According to Chinese Medicine, spring time is the perfect time to do a gentle detox and feed the body more greens...stimulate the liver to help it release the gunk it had accumulated over the winter months. Sweat to detox, take supplements, etc...
2) Invoke your INNER TEENager:
Teens have a self-assured confidence that borders on cockiness! If you have been vacilating on a new project (or holding back from any new thing...!) invoke that inner teen and don't be afraid to fail! Be the naively confident teen and make it happen!
3) Give Yourself Life!
Don't do anything that drains you! Do everything that gives you energy! My father used to say, "You don't even know you are alive yet!" And he meant, LIVE LIFE! Do only those things that energize you and avoid the things that bring you down! I'm just now beginning to understand this.
4) Build your confidence!
How do you do this? You have to step out and take a chance and collect the evidence that says you are a success!
5) Act on your INSTINCTS!
There is a difference between instinct and intuition! Instinct is the action you take before you even know you know it is right or wrong -- and instinct helps you build your intuition! By listening to the feedback acting on your instincts gives you, you foster strong intuition!
6) Embody Courage!
Is this something you can do? I don't really know...I sincerely mean that. But the Season of Aries is a perfect time to test it out!
7) Keep the Ego in Check!
Aries is associated with the head, so expect things to happen with this area of the body -- don't overthink things. If you have headaches, tend to them! If you are finding yourself in a battle of egos, check it! Expect physical, mental or energetic things to happen to the head during this time!
8) Just DO IT!!!
Take a chance! Whatever it is that you have been afraid of doing, the big, life-altering thing you have been putting off --- JUST DO IT! Take the chance~ the energies of this season are supporting you!
Until next time,
