Astrological archetypes can be read across the chart, so even if you have no planets in a particular sign, it is likely you still have that sign's energy available to you. For instance, Pisces, Neptune and the 12th house are interchangeable archetypes expressing the same energy throughout your chart, so even if you are not a Pisces, you will still be affected by Piscean energy. Just look to these three areas of your chart to see how the energy plays out in your experience.
Pisces is the 12th sign of zodiac and as such, contains trace elements of all the previous signs so it's really about synthesis. As a mutable water sign, Pisces is also about dissolution. This is the mystery (and double entendre) of the Neptunian archetype.
The root of the word dissolution -- solution-- means, “a liquid mixture in which the minor component (the solute) is uniformly distributed within the major component (the solvent).”
Here we have the reference to the fluid nature of the Piscean energy, but DISsolution means "the closing down of a partnership."
In that regard, the mutable water energy of Pisces takes all the parts of the zodiac, assembles them into one cohesive mixture and dissolves them in order to close out the cycle.
When we work with Pisces energy, it is best to do so within our extrasensory capacities, for what Pisces washes ashore is not easily seen with the eyes. Pisces inhabits, indeed, IS the mysterious, mystical and numinous space of the subconscious, that which is hidden, so... we need to develop different ways of sensing the energies of this realm and that is best navigated by feeling, through intuition and expressing wild creativity (which is why the arts are so strongly associated to the sign of Pisces. Poetry, theater, visual arts, dance, music -- anything that comes from the depths of the wild soul, that are highly sensitive in nature, are borne of the 12th house.)
Pisces is the highly creative, highly sensitive archetype that rules the arts/ theater/ dance/ music...anything that casts that net of illusion and drags us into the world of imagination. Many poets and artists are born with heavy Neptunian signatures --Anais Nin, Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, to name a few.
Pisces is also the tendency to escape the realities of everyday suffering, and if we are not consciously working with the energy, it can manifest into addictions, codependency and escapism, whether through mind altering substances or mindless habits like numbing out through social media, netflix, shopping, religion, etc...
So how can you use this season to master the energy of Pisces?
First, look to your chart and discover if you have any Neptune complexes. That is, any planets or points that make aspects to Neptune. Seek to understand the qualities of these complexes and how they play out in your experience.
Dreamwork: get yourself a dream journal and record your dreams. It’s not uncommon to have vivid dreams during this time period. You might also try lucid dreaming during the Season of Pisces. Lucid dreaming is a kind of dreamwork in which you are asleep and dreaming, but "consciously" directing the action of your dreams.
Ritual practice: the art of ritual is a Piscean practice. Ritual is any activity that seeks to illuminate the subconscious through symbolic imagery, actions and sensory details. Making tea can be ritual. Bringing mindful presence to your actions as you boil the water, select a mug for its specific color (blue for connecting to Neptune, or purple for spiritual connection, for instance), watching the steam rise off the water and deeply inhaling the aroma of the herbs before you sip on your brew. With conscious intent, this mundane act has become a way to bridge the left and right hemispheres of the brain, causing a spiritual reaction in your being. Of course, there are many ways to engage in ritual practice. This is just one simple example.
Therapy: working with a therapist or qualified guide to help you understand your subconscious motivations is a Piscean activity. So is any kind of healing work that alters your state of consciousness, such holotropic breathwork, ayahuasca ceremony, trance dance or EMD.
Arts: poetry, painting, theater, dance. Invoking the arts through engagement as a creator, contributor, participant is a great way to fall under the spell of Neptune.
Water works: pay attention to your interactions with water. Walk in the spring rains. Take a bath. Drink water. Note how you feel when you do or don’t do these things. What happens when you are dehydrated? What happens when your fingers are water logged and look like raisins?
Work on developing your intuition. This is the kind of sense that requires a different kind of eyes to see. Of course, if you enact any of the tips above, you will be deepening your intuition, but you can also do so by noting synchronicities throughout your day. You can make a habit of using oracle or tarot cards. You can work with animal totems. Remain open to receiving messages and gifts from the Universe. Play intuition games with others, telling the stories of objects (psychometry) and their previous owners... The time is always right to engage in these things, but during the Season of Pisces, you may find it easier to do.
I hope these tips help you engage your inner Neptunian traits and rock the Season of Pisces!
