In astrology, the personal planets play a huge role in not only how you express yourself, but also how you get your needs met.
The sun represents the way you present yourself to the world, i.e. your ego. It tells the world, "I Am (and I have needs.)"
Mercury is your communication style and how you move about in the world to get your needs met.
Venus represents your love style, your relating style and what you attract to get your needs met.
Mars represents your passionate defenses, how you defend what you need.
But the moon...the moon represents your internal landscape, and despite the "hidden nature" of this archetype, it is the moon that controls so much of how we get our desires met.
So, if the moon is the "hidden" aspects of who we are, why does it hold so much sway over getting what we want?
Where the sun is the portal to your outward personality, the moon is the key to your subconscious desires. The sun is like a mask we wear, but the moon is the person behind it.
So let's say you decided you were going to manifest some cool stuff at the new moon.
You got all your magazines out, scissors, glue, poster board. You put on some great music, poured yourself a beverage of choice...and you began gluing your intentions to the work-of-art-in-progress that is your vision board.
You finish your task, and then work on the steps to manifest the vision into reality. You take aligned actions. You recite positive affirmations. You prepare yourself to be ready for when opportunity strikes.
But after awhile, you notice yourself feeling frustrated by the lack of manifesting action. Your actions don't seem to matter, so you feel less inclined to focus on them. The affirmations you have been reciting seem silly and besides, your positive vibes have become worries. And now, instead of feeling hopeful about getting your desires met, you balk at the notion of any stroke of good luck.
Alas, the intention becomes a faded memory.
So what gives?
Manifesting with the moon is a journey of self-discovery. It takes you deep into your inner landscape to look at the nature of desire. When you set those intentions at the new moon, you may have thought you knew what you wanted, but if your thoughts are not in alignment with your feelings, the potential for self sabotage is high!
So, to understand this, let's take a look at your personal astrological moon. If you do not know what your moon sign is, create a free natal chart here. (By the way, it's important that you have your Date of Birth, an accurate time of birth and the location of birth. Your chart will not be as reliable without this information.)
Start by looking to the Sign your moon falls in. This will tell you how your moon expresses itself in your experience. For instance, Cancer Moons can be very empathic, taking on the feelings of others whereas a Capricorn Moon can feel burdened by emotions, so the tendency is to avoid them.
If you understand the expression of your moon, you can start to see where your feelings did not jive with your thoughts. In order to manifest anything, conscious alignment is required. You might explore the various ways your moon wants to express itself and then craft an intention statement that matches the energy of your personal moon.
Next, look to the House your moon falls in. This is the area of life you are likely to experience your moon lessons. That is, if your moon is in the sixth house, your Moon Lessons likely manifest in the areas of service, devotion, health and work. Let's say you have struggled to keep jobs. You tend to take a job for its utilitarian purpose -- to pay the bills. But, if you don't like the job, you quit. This could your astrological moon telling you that job satisfaction will only come when you consider your true feelings about the job before hand. You should not take any old position, but find the one that sings to you and makes your soul happy.
Now you can look to any aspects the moon is making to other planets in your chart. Aspects tell you who is helping and who is challenging your Moon. For instance, conjunctions, squares and oppositions are considered challenging. Trines and sextiles are considered supportive. If your moon is trine Venus, your general temperament is pleasant. But if your moon is square Saturn, you may tend to suppress your emotions, which could lead to issues you'll have to repair later on.
Finally, look to your nodal axis and discover which life path you are on in this incarnation. The nodal axis tells you which talents and traits you came in with -- i.e. what you already know-- as reflected by your South Node. It also tells you what your soul is learning in this lifetime, represented by the North Node.
Some astrologers say that for true soul satisfaction, we should quit retreating into our South Node qualities (which is our natural tendency whenever faced with a challenge) but I don't agree with this advice.
I believe the South Node qualities are skills we picked up for a reason and which serve as a platform upon which we launch in the direction of soul satisfaction.
For instance, let's look at the Libra North Node/ Aries South Node Nodal Axis.
Aries South Nodes have spent many lifetimes developing courage, independence and assertiveness. In the past, these people have had to fight for survival, to make swift decisions and, as a result, their instincts are very keen.
These are all great traits which serve them well, but when Aries South Nodes are operating unconsciously, these characteristics can sabotage their happiness because to others, the Aries South comes off as arrogant, selfish and indifferent.
It alienates itself from achieving it's soul goals, which are.... learning how to refine their warrior-like instincts with diplomacy.
This requires cooperation and selflessness on their part, which is hard because being vulnerable is not what the Libra/ Aries Nodal Axis folks are used to.
However, once they realize the fulcrum of power exists in vulnerability, they discover a new way of relating in the world, which helps them reach their goals every time.
One thing I did not mention in the video is the importance of your personal Moon Phase. Moon phases are a key part of the Manifesting with the Moon eCourse, but they are also important in determining the direction your life force energy projects. A waxing moon has a different vibe than a waning moon, and to be born under the influence of either means different things.
A person born under a waxing Capricorn moon may have a different emotional make-up than a person born on a Balsamic Capricorn moon. The vital force takes on a different direction, and the energies contribute differently to our subconscious motivations.
As you can see, the Moon holds the key to unlocking your soul's desires!
