One of my favorite sayings is,
"It's the little things that make life such a big deal."
In my family, we call these simple pleasures, "Big Little Things."
So it goes without saying that I'm thrilled to see red lips and bare eyes have seemed to make a comeback. If you aspired to be a Riot Grrl in the 90's, you may share in this sentiment.
Of course, I would say I'm more of a Riot Mom than ever before these days, having let my hair go back to its (mostly) natural color (blonde) and mostly settling for an au naturel color palette in pinks, soft mauves and nudes, if I wear makeup at all.
But I had forgotten how happy red lipstick made me feel. That is, until earlier this year when I received a gift card to Sephora for my birthday. I splurged on Bite Beauty's Pomegranate Red Luminous Creme lipstick.
I did not realize when I bought it, but this lipstick contains as much anti-aging/antioxidant reservitrol as FIVE GLASSES of red wine! I especially love how it glides on easily and that it lasts a long time! It is so lush and luxe, it feels super rich and emollient and it has a light and lovely aroma. I also get a kick out of the fact that it is 98% organic.
But mostly, I just love the overall feeling I get wearing this color -- bright, fiesty and vibrant. It's a feeling I can definitely grow old with!
