Each lunar cycle represents a deeply transformative opportunity. If you have taken my eCourse, Manifesting with the Moon, you know each lunar cycle carries its own unique energetic signature based on the sign the moon is in at the New Moon phase. This placement signifies the modality (or the type of energy) you have to work with through out the entire lunar cycle. For instance, the Aries New Moon is a cardinal modality. Next month we will experience the Taurus New Moon, which begins a fixed modality cycle and following that is the Gemini New Moon -- a mutable modality cycle.
Using the four cardinal points of this lunar cycle can help sustain your transformative process throughout (and beyond!) this Aries lunar cycle. For the current cycle, these points are:
Aries New Moon - March 27
Cancer First Quarter Moon -- April 6
Libra Full Moon -- April 12
Capricorn Third Quarter Moon-- April 20
(***dates are for MST. Check dates for your own locality here.)
Because Aries is the first sign of the zodiac-- and a cardinal modality-- it represents an amazing time to initiate new beginnings in your life.
This kind of energy is the energy exists simply to get things started.
It is anxious to gooooo!
It has a very boisterous and unstoppable energy...if you have been thinking about starting something new in your life, an Aries new moon is certainly the time to act without hesitation because the cosmos is supporting your desires!
Now, with any new thing we begin in life, there comes a point at which we are challenged. We start out with the best of intentions, we give it our all. Then we experience a set back. In moon magick, this is represented by the first quarter moon.
Dane Rudhyar, who wrote extensively about planetary phases, calls the first quarter phase a "crisis in action." That is, an external force that challenges you on your journey of consciousness. Whether or not you can overcome this challenge will dictate how the next "important" phase of the moon unfolds for you.
In our case, that is the full moon. Will you be celebrating your accomplishments thus far? Or will the full moon be illuminating more areas in which gremlins are lurking?
This experience, of course, flows into your next critical point -- the Third Quarter Moon-- which Rudhyar calls the "crisis in consciousness." This is where we realize we are not the same person we were at the beginning of this journey. These experiences have changed us forever. There is no going back because we can't unsee the seen, can't undo the done, can't unspeak the spoken.
So, on the Aries new moon, you set your intentions. At the Cancer 1st Quarter moon, you experience "a crisis in action." At the Libra full moon, you either celebrate or continue to figure this thing out (I always recommend a gratitude ceremony, regardless). And at the Third Quarter Capricorn moon, you experience a "crisis in consciousness," where you surrender to the flow.
I hope this makes sense. I made this video today on an Aries-induced whim to (hopefully!) explain in more detail. Let me know what you think by leaving a comment below and until next time....
